Glenwood locks up share of Hawk-10 championship
The Glenwood baseball team earned a share of the Hawkeye 10 Conference baseball title on Friday with a sweep of Council Bluffs Lewis Central at A.C. Nuckolls Field.
The Rams (21-11 overall, 15-3 in the conference) got a 5-4 win over the Titans in the opener. The game was a make up of the final four innings suspended by rain on June 14. Glenwood won the capper 8-3.
In the first game, Glenwood plated a run in the top half of the seventh to go up 5-3. The Titans added a run in their half of the inning but could get no closer.
Tyler Jensen earned the game-one victory, tossing 1 2/3 innings and allowing two hits and no earned runs.
Corey Bertini got the benefit of a five run Glenwood first inning as he cruised to his third win of the season on the mound. Bertini scattered eight hits and three earned runs over six innings of work before giving way to Alec Forbes in the seventh.
Forbes had three hits and three RBIs in the two games.
Mitch Bowden and Brady Douma also each had three hits.
Bertini helped his own cause in the game-two win with a pair of doubles and two RBIs.
Atlantic 17,
Glenwood 9
Atlantic scored 13 runs in the first two innings to cruise to a 17-9 victory over Glenwood on Thursday.
Grant Stivers, in his shortest outing of the year, took the loss on the hill allowing seven hits and 11 runs (four earned).
Ten different Rams had at least one hit with Mitch Bowden leading the way with two hits.

Shenandoah
Glenwood jumped on Shenandoah for three runs in each of the first three innings in 10-0, five inning shutout victory last Tuesday.
Tyler Jensen allowed one hit and struck out six of the 10 batters he faced to earn the win.
Grant Stivers, Corey Bertini, Alex Forbes and Jensen each had two hits. Forbes finished with four RBIs.
Seth Jameson and Corey Bertini each drove in two runs.
