Glenwood baseball blanks Thomas Jefferson

Cole Loeffelbein homered and Colton Schutte pitched six hitless innings for Glenwood in a 9-0 shutout of Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson Friday.

The Rams (2-1) smacked 10 hits off Yellowjackets pitchers and built on a 3-0 lead after two innings with a big five run rally in the fifth to put the game out of reach.

Loeffelbein’s lone hit was his first home run of the season and drove in two runs. Cade Van Ness, Andrew Holiday and Dax Lappala each recorded two hits.

Schutte did not allow a hit and struck out nine in six innings of work before giving way to closer Pierce Harrington.

Council Bluffs St. Albert built a 4-0 lead after two innings and hung on for a 7-3 Hawkeye 10 Conference baseball victory over Glenwood.

Saintes’ starter Brandon Williams and reliever Jake Hubbard combined to allow three hits and strikeout 13. Williams was credited with the win.

Cole Loeffelbein, Ethan Fisher and Dax Lappala each recorded two hits.

Fisher was credited with the loss, allowing five hits and four earned runs in three innings pitched.

Creston 2

A.J. Slaughter allowed a single hit in an 8-2 Glenwood victory over Creston in the Rams’ season-opener last Tuesday.

Slaughter did not allow a run and struck out 10 in six innings of work to earn the win.

At the plate, Ethan Fisher went 3-for-3 and drove in a run. Loeffelbein doubled and drove in two runs.
