Four GOP Candidates Seek Two Seats On County Board

The field of county candidates has been set for the June 7 primary election.

The Republican Party has candidates running for all three “county courthouse” positions on the ballot in the primary - auditor, sheriff and board of supervisors. There are no Democratic candidates seeking the county offices.

Incumbent county auditor Carol Robertson of Glenwood is running unopposed in the Republican primary, as is county sheriff Eugene Goos of Glenwood.

Four Republicans are running for two seats up for election on the board of supervisors - incumbent Lonnie Mayberry of Glenwood, Scott Burtch of Glenwood, Thomas Pina of Glenwood and Carol Vinton of Glenwood. Supervisor Ron Kohn is not seeking re-election.

With no Democratic candidates on the ballot for county offices, the winners in the Republican primary are likely to be unopposed in the November general election.

The county attorney position will be on the ballot in the general election. The winner of that election will complete the remaining two years on the term for Republican Tricia McSorley who submitted her resignation last week.

The county board of supervisors will appoint an interim county attorney to serve until the general election. McSorley’s resignation is effective Friday.
