Filomena Robinson, 91, Glenwood

Filomena Mongiello Robinson, age 91, of Glenwood, formerly of New York City, N.Y., died Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Glen Haven Home in Glenwood. Funeral Services were held Saturday, March 28, 2009, at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood. Rev. Don Bruck officiated. Interment was in the Glenwood Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 30, 1917, one of seven children to Italian immigrant parents, Gaetano and Elizabeth (Corrado) Mongiello. She graduated from Hunter College in New York and worked in the Corporation Counsel’s Office of Court before entering the U.S. Coast Guard in World War II. In January of 1947, she was united in marriage to Lewis Scott Robinson, III in New York City. The couple made their home in Glenwood so Mr. Robinson could join the family business. Mrs. Robinson was employed in the Mills County Treasurer’s office as clerk, then deputy and in 1950, was elected County Treasurer, which office she held until retirement in 1985. She was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Glenwood. She was a very civic-minded individual and a loyal supporter of the Glenwood Fire Department, Mills County Historical Society and contributed the large rock at the Glenwood Lake Park. During her retirement years, she loved traveling and took various modes of transportation. She had a keen sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew and cared for her.

Preceding her in death were her parents; siblings; husband, Lewis in 1983; and niece Carmel Passannante. She is survived by her nephews, Gaetan Anthony and wife Cindy Passannante of Damascus, Ore.; and Caesar Passannante of Goldens Bridge, N.Y.; a large extended family and a host of friends.

Memorials may be made to the Mills County Historical Society, Holy Rosary Catholic Church or Hospice with Heart.
