Art Church Outdoor Festival Saturday In Malvern

The first-ever Art Church Outdoor Festival, is taking place Saturday, May 10, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., in Malvern, between the Art House and Art Church Iowa, located at 201 E. 4th Street.

This all-day creative celebration is the vision of local artist Zack Jones, founder of Art Church Iowa. Festival-goers can expect a full lineup of interactive art experiences including yoga, a drum circle, tie-dye, paint-a-pot with raku firing, mural painting, and live music, all in one vibrant, come-as-you-are setting.

“I obviously like things that are a little different,” said Jones. “The idea is having several entities of art, happening all at once.”

Admission is $10 at the gate (children under 12 are free), with proceeds going toward making the historic Art Church handicap-accessible, a project partially funded by a grant, but still in need of support from the community.

Kids are welcome and creativity is encouraged.

Jones’ passion for the arts and for welcoming families and children into artistic spaces shines through in this event.

“I think people will walk away thinking ‘that was a really cool environment,’” he said.
