Chris Herrick retiring as Fremont-Mills superintendent

TABOR - Chris Herrick, who has served as superintendent for the Fremont-Mills School District for the past 18 years, has announced his retirement.

Herrick submitted his resignation, effective at the end of the current school year, during a meeting of the Fremont-Mills Board of Education last Thursday. Herrick is also stepping down as superintendent of the Stanton School District. Herrick has  been the shared superintendent for Fremont-Mills and Stanton for the past five years.

“It has been a pleasure and honor to serve as the superintendent of the Fremont-Mills District for 18 years, and as the shared superintendent with the Stanton School District for the last five years,” Herrick stated in an announcement to members of the local media. “It has also been a pleasure working with each media organization over the years and thank you for your work on behalf of our students and schools.”

The Fremont-Mills School District has experienced unprecedented growth and expansion of facilities during Herrick’s tenure at Fremont-Mills, including classroom wings and a new gymnasium. Work is nearly complete on a new early childhood development center, auditorium and learning center, expanded parking and a new baseball / softball complex.
