Central Decatur downs Knights

Central Decatur jumped out to a 9-0 lead and cruised to a 16-3 victory over Fremont-Mills in boys baseball in Malvern Saturday.

The Knights (7-6) struggled defensively against the Cardinals, amassing five errors that led to seven unearned runs. In all, five Knights pitchers combined to allow 11 hits and walk six.

Beau Malcom had two doubles to lead the Knights. Jacob Jenkerson added two hits and drove in a run and Nate Laughlin singled and drove in a run.

Ricky Marcus scattered seven hits and two earned runs while striking out six to earn the win.

Fremont-Mills 17,
West Harrison 6

Five different Fremont-Mills hitters collected at least two hits in a 17-6 victory over West Harrison in non-conference baseball Thursday.

The Knights (7-5) got four hits from Nate Laughlin, three each from Andrew Hontz and James Switzer, and two each from Dylan Chambers and Jacob Jenkerson. Laughlin drove in four runs and stole two bases.

Isaac Bateman went the distance on the mound to earn the win.

Lenox 14,
Fremont-Mills 4

Lenox’s Jared Hensley struck out nine and pitched a complete game in a 14-4 victory over Fremont-Mills last Wednesday.

Hensley scattered four hits and three earned runs in the 102-pitch victory.

The Knights could manage just one extra-base hit off Hensley – a double by Andrew Hontz – in the loss.

Broc Hetzel threw 3 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and six earned runs, to take the loss.

Fremont-Mills 15,
Essex/South Page 13,

Fremont-Mills plated two runs in the top of the eighth to take the lead and then Jacob Jenkerson pitched scoreless bottom half of the frame to give the Knights a 15-13 victory over Essex/South Page last Tuesday.

Andrew Hontz, Beau Malcom and Nate Laughlin each had two hits against the Trojans.
Laughlin drove in three runs and recorded four stolen bases.

The Knights threw seven different pitchers with Jenkerson going 3 2/3 innings to get the win.

Fremont-Mills 14,
Stanton 13

Fremont-Mills built a 13-5 lead and held on late for a 14-13 victory over Stanton in Corner Conference baseball last Monday.

The Knights smacked 17 hits in the win, led by the three hits apiece by Isaac Bateman, Nate Laughlin, Broc Hetzel and Jacob Jenkerson. Laughlin doubled and drove in four runs and Bateman drove in two.

Jenkerson was credited with the win on the hill. The sophomore allowed six hits and six earned runs while striking out four.
