Camilla E. Kroeger, 91, of Glenwood

Camilla E. Kroeger, 91, formerly of Alvord, and Glenwood, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at Woodlands Rehab Center, Council Bluffs. Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley. Burial was at Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Alvord. Reverend Carla Jensen officiated.

    Camilla Esther Reit was born Oct. 14, 1918, to Herman and Emma (Jensen) Reit in Alvord. She was united in marriage to Alvin Kroeger on Oct. 12, 1940, in Larchwood. Together they owned and operated Kroeger’s Café in Alvord. Mr. Kroeger died May 13, 1981. Mrs. Kroeger lived in Alvord until 1984, when she moved to Glenwood to be closer to her grandchildren. She then moved to Woodlands Rehab Center in 2004 due to health reasons. She enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, reading, crossword puzzles, playing cards, baking and spoiling her grandchildren

    Mrs. Kroeger was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin; son, Dennis Kroeger; sister, Irene Shemmel. She is survived by her daughter Diane and husband Kenneth Lewis of Council Bluffs; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother, Herman Reit of Citrus Heights, Calif.; several nieces and nephews.
