Broadway Production Of Mean Girls Based On Popular Teen Comedy Film

Mean Girls runs March 8-13 at the Orpheum Theater.

A broadway musical adaptation of Mean Girls, based on the 2004 American teen comedy film of the same name is set to run March 8-13 at the Orpheum Theater in Omaha.

The coming-of-age stage musical premiered at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C., in October 2017 and opened on Broadway in April 2018.

Mean Girls is based in part on Rosalind Wiseman’s 2002 non-fiction self-help book, Queen Bees and Wannabes, which describes female high school social cliques, school bullying and the damaging effects they can have on students.

The plot centers on a naïve teenage girl navigating her way through the social hierarchy of a modern American high school after years of her parents homeschooling her while conducting research in Africa.

The Mean Girls  stage production is produced by an award-winning creative team, including director Casey Nicholaw (Aladdin, The Book of Mormon), composer Jeff Richmond (30 Rock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), lyricist Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde) and book writer Tina Fey (30 Rock, Bossypants).

Tickets for the show are available online at TicketOmaha.com or in person at the Ticket Omaha box office, located at 1200 Douglas St.
