Avanelle Winifred (McIntire) Dashner, 93, of Glenwood, passed away Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at Hospice With Heart in Glenwood. Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood. Rev. Dean McPherson officiated. Interment was in the Glenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Hospice With Heart, Grace United Methodist Church or Glenwood Public Library.
She was born Sept. 6, 1918, in Rawles Township, Mills County, daughter of Frederick and Etta (Bomer) McIntire. She married Glee Dashner Sept. 27, 1938. Glee passed away March 12, 1985.
Avanelle, fondly known as Ava, was a lifelong resident of Mills County. She was a wonderful cook and an avid baker. She enjoyed being a homemaker and spending time with her family and friends. She was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Avanelle was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Glenelle Kruse, one sister, Theresa Chase, and one brother, Joy McIntire. She is survived by one son, Sherrill and daughter-in-law, Christine Dashner of Pacific Junction; son-in-law, Chuck Kruse of Glenwood; grandchildren, Justin Dashner of Glenwood; Jill Dashner and husband, Jeff Schlobohm of Cedar Falls; Aaron Kruse and companion, Karen Brandenburg of Council Bluffs and Jerad Kruse and wife Michelle of Glenwood; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gelena Pulliam of Cordova, Tenn. and Anna Pearl; and brother-in-law, Walter Leick of Glenwood; nieces, nephews and friends.
