‘SOUNDS OF THE SEASON’

The United States Air Force Heartland of America Band will be spreading holiday cheer in Glenwood again next month.

Through the sponsorship of The Opinion-Tribune newspaper and Glenwood Community School District, the band from Offutt Air Force Base is returning to Glenwood for a fourth straight year to present its 2016 “Sounds of the Season” holiday concert in the Glenwood Community High School auditorium on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m.

Free tickets for the concert will be available on a first-come basis beginning Monday, Nov. 21, at The Opinion-Tribune office, Glenwood State Bank and First National Bank. Ticket distribution will be limited to four per person.

Seating for the concert will be general admission and ticket holders will be required to be seated 10 minutes prior to the start of the performance.

The Glenwood concert will be the band’s lone public performance in Iowa during the upcoming holiday season.

Opinion-Tribune editor Joe Foreman said the newspaper is honored to partner with the school district in bringing the Heartland of America Band back to Glenwood, noting the concert has now become a popular Christmastime tradition in the community.

“It’s a fantastic show with first-class musicians and vocalists,” Foreman said. “We think it’s a privilege for Glenwood to be selected as a site for the concert again this year.”

Doug  Roe, the band’s director of operations, said the group enjoys coming to Glenwood.

“The auditorium at the high school in Glenwood is a great venue and we always receive a warm reception,” Roe said.
