Wolverines drop two at Treynor tournament
East Mills dropped a pair of five inning games to Missouri Valley and Treynor at the Treynor Baseball Tournament Saturday.
Missouri Valley roughed up the Wolverines for 11 hits in a 15-3 game one victory. The host Cardinals won 14-2.
Matt Glockel took the game one loss. The senior allowed eight hits and six earned runs. Michael Schafer started and tossed 2 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and five earned runs, to take the game two loss.
Noah Hillyer had four hits and drove in two runs for the Wolverines in the two games. Weston Copperstone added three hits and drew two walks.

East Mills recorded a season-high in runs and hits while earning its first victory of the season in a 16-4 win over Essex/South Page Friday in Corner Conference baseball.
The Wolverines’ trailed 4-2 after an inning but responded to out-score the Trojans 12-0 over the final four innings in the win.
Six different Wolverines recorded at least two hits. Noah Hillyer went 4-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored. Matt Glockel and Nic Duysen picked up three hits while Kameron Wederquist, Anthony Rainey and Chris Darnold added two each.
Wederquist started on the mound before giving way to reliever Dylan Schroeder in the fourth. Schroeder came on to pitch an inning and a third of shutout relief. Wederquist was credited with the win.
Logan-Magnolia 13,
East Mills 4
East Mills out-hit Logan-Magnolia 14-10 but lost in the run department in a 13-4 loss last Wednesday in non-conference baseball.
Eight different Wolverines recorded at least one hit, led by Matt Glockel’s 4-for-4 day. Weston Copperstone, Kameron Wederquist and Trevor Glockel each added two hits apiece.
Jackson Wray took the loss on the hill for East Mills. The eighth grader allowed 10 hits and four earned runs in 2 2/3 innings of work.
Gabe Walski was credited with the win for Logan-Magnolia. The freshman scattered 10 hits and four earned runs while fanning three.
West Harrison 10,
East Mills 7
East Mills got down 8-1 after five innings and couldn’t claw its way back in a 10-7 road loss at West Harrison last Tuesday.
The Wolverines (0-4) plated six runs over the final two innings.
Matt Glockel led the way for East Mills with two triples and six RBIs. Dylan Schroeder added three hits, scored two runs and stole a base.
Michael Schafer took the loss on the hill after allowing 12 hits and six earned runs in 4 1/3 innings.
Preston Davis was credited with the win for West Harrison after scattering three hits and four earned runs in five innings of work.
