Wolverines drop pair at Riverside

East Mills fell in a pair of games at the Riverside Softball Tournament Saturday.
The Wolverines (3-8) dropped its opener to Shenandoah 16-4 in six innings and then fell to the host Bulldogs 13-2 in four innings.

Janette Schraft started in the circle and took the loss to the Mustangs after allowing seven hits and seven earned runs. Kassidy Croghan took the loss in game two.

Emmy Duysen, Megan Hossle and Cheyenne Roberson each had two hits on the day to lead the Wolverines at the plate.

East Mills 26
Fremont-Mills 21

With a score that looks more like a football tally than softball, its no wonder the game lasted nearly three hours.

In a wild, 2 hour, 55 minute softball game, East Mills edged Fremont-Mills 26-21 in Tabor Friday night.

The two teams combined for 33 hits, 25 walks in a game that featured 10 different players recording multiple hits.

The Wolverines jumped out to a 10-2 lead heading into the bottom of the third before the Knights appeared to have wrestled away the momentum with a 10-run bottom half of the third.

But East Mills would respond with eight runs of their own in the fourth. The Wolverines, leading 18-`3 after four innings, would never trail again.

Kassidy Croghan went the distance for East Mills. The sophomore lefty gave up 13 hits and walked 11 but struck out 10 in the win. Croghan also helped her own cause at the plate with two hits and four RBIs.

Emmy Duysen had four hits and Cheyenne Roberson three to lead East Mills at the plate. Rachel Schafer picked up two hits and four RBIs.

Kendall Reed started and took the loss for the Knights after allowing five hits and 11 earned runs while striking out six.

Clara Schaaf went 6-for-6 on the night with six stolen bases, two RBIs and four runs scored. Reed, Jenna Nelson, Ashleigh Rusten and Sophie Phillips each added a pair of hits.

West Harrison 18,
Fremont-Mills 4

West Harrison scored of its runs in the first two inning en route to an 18-4, three inning victory over Fremont-Mills in non-conference softball in Tabor Thursday.

The Hawkeyes exploded for 11 runs in the first inning and seven more in the second.

The Knights (2-5) recorded seven hits off starting pitcher Kali McIntosh and were able to push four runs across in the third before the game was ended by “mercy rule.”
Kynzie Fichter and Kennedy Walther each had two hits for the Knights.

Starter Sophie Phillips allowed five hits and 10 earned runs to take the loss in the circle.

East Mills 9,
Stanton 4

Kassidy Croghan struck out a season-high 16 and East Mills cruised to a 9-4 victory over Stanton in Corner Conference softball last Monday.

Croghan scattered five hits and allowed two earned runs in the win.

Emmy Duysen and Zena Courtier led the Wolverines at the plate with three hits each. Courtier doubles and tripled and drove in a run. Rachel Schafer added two hits.

Boyer Valley 14
Fremont-Mills 0

Boyer Valley blanked Fremont-Mills 14-0 in a non-conference softball tilt  June 1 in Dunlap.

The Knights struggled to get on track against Bulldog starter Grace Reineke, who allowed just two hits and struck out eight in two innings of work.

Clara Schaaf recorded both hits and stole four bases for the Knigh
