Winton To Seek Seat On Board of Supervisors

Glenwood real estate agent Sandi Winton has announced her candidacy for the Mills County Board of Supervisors.
Winton, a Republican and Brunswick, Mo. native, will be on the ballot in next June’s primary election, seeking one of the two seats on the board presently occupied by Lonnie Mayberry and Carol Vinton.

Winton is currently a member of the Mills County Board of Adjustment and has been involved in several community projects over the past 15 years. She said she initially considered running the board four years ago after Ron Kohn announced his retirement, but the timing wasn’t right for her family.

“It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a few years,” she said. “I love serving the community. I’ve been on several different committees and different boards. It’s just something that I feel like I’m qualified for.

“It’s a culmination of everything I’ve done that leads up to being able to make tough decisions for the county.”
Winton said her background would be an asset to the board.

“I have experience leading a marketing team at Whiteman Air Force Base, so I have experience in leadership and controlling large budgets,” she said. “As a real estate agent, we deal with large amounts of money and making things balance.”

Winton attended college at Central Missouri State University where she studied criminal justice before becoming a military wife. Her husband Tony served in the U.S. Air Force.

Tony and Sandy Winton have five children and 17 grandchildren.
