Three Teens Arrested After Glenwood Shooting

A teenager was hospitalized and three others arrested following a late-night shooting in Glenwood on Thursday.

Officers from the Glenwood Police Department responded to a shooting at 506 S. Locust St. in Glenwood at 11:12 p.m. Upon their arrival, officers indentified a 17-year-old male victim who had been shot. The victim was initially treated by Glenwood Rescue personnel before being transported by medical helicopter to an Omaha hospital. He was reported to be in stable condition on Monday.

Glenwood Police Chief Eric Johansen said a suspect in the shooting fled the scene in a stolen vehicle with two other individuals. The vehicle was located a short time later north of the Glenwood city limits by Mills County Sheriff’s Office deputies. The three individuals fled on foot before officers located the vehicle.

Johansen said an extensive search led to the initial apprehension of two suspects, a 17-year-old male from Omaha and a 15-year-old female from Council  Bluffs. K-9 units from the Mills County Sheriff’s Office, Glenwood Police Department, Council Bluffs Police Department, Fremont, Montgomery, Pottawattamie and Shelby County Sheriff’s Offices were involved in the search. The Iowa State Patrol also assisted.

On Friday, around 11:30 a.m., officers apprehended the third suspect, a 17-year-old male from Glenwood, at an address in Glenwood.

Johansen said Monday all three suspects have been charged with third-degree burglary, unrelated to the shooting, but additional charges are forthcoming.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and Mills County Sheriff’s Office are assisting in the investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Glenwood Police at 712-527-4844.
