Scout Builds Planting Beds As "Welcome Home Gift" For Glen Haven Village

There should be plenty of flowers in bloom and vegetables growing outside the living units at Glen Haven Village next summer thanks to the efforts of an Omaha boy working toward earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

Owen Molgaard, the great-grandson of Glen Haven Village resident Jim Osler, recently presented 12 raised garden beds he built as a “welcome home gift” for the residents of the new skilled-care nursing facility that opened last month on the campus of the Glenwood Resource Center.

The flower beds were presented to Glen Haven Village residents and staff at the special ceremony on Aug. 15.
Molgaard, a member of Boy Scout Troop 282 in Millard, said the special Eagle Scout project was two years in the making and was carried out at the suggestion of Glen Haven Village Administrator Julianne Marriott.

“It wasn’t all me,” Molgaard said. “A lot of people helped me build these.”

Molgaard’s great-grandfather was among the Glen Haven Village residents in attendance at the ceremony.

“I’m very proud of him,” Osler said.

Marriott said Glen Haven Village staff and residents are very appreciative of the gift. Two of the planting beds will be placed outside each of the six Glen Haven Village living units.
Molgaard is the son of Ryan Molgaard and Mandy Evans.
