Rams cap perfect regular season with 74-46 victory

The Glenwood girls won their 22nd game in as many tries with 74-46 victory over Denison in Hawkeye 10 Conference girls basketball Friday in Glenwood.

The Class 4A, No. 3 ranked Rams scored 20 points in each the first and second quarter and carried a controlling 40-23 lead over the Monarchs to halftime.

Glenwood followed up their first half performance by outscoring Denison 34-23 after halftime.

For the game, the Rams shot 44 percent from the field – including 10-of-22 from behind the arc – and recorded 21 assists on their 25 made field goals.

Madison Camden led the way with 22 points for Glenwood. Jenna Hopp added 11 and Elle Scarborough nine.

Paige Anderson paced Denison with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Glenwood puts its perfect record on the line in the Class 4A regional semifinals Saturday. After a first round bye, the Rams play at home against the winner of Harlan (12-9) and Denison (12-8) on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. The winner advances to the regional championship Feb. 25 with a state tournament bid on the line. That game will be played on the home court of the highest remaining ranked team.

Glenwood 65,
Shenandoah 46

Glenwood got out to a 22-7 lead and cruised to its 21st straight win this season with a 65-46 victory over Shenandoah last Tuesday.

The Rams (21-0, 10 in the conference) held Shenandoah to 30 percent shooting and grabbed 13 steals in the win.

Madison Camden led three Rams in double-figures with 20 points. Jenna Hopp and Abby Hughes added 10 points each.
Roxy Denton led Shenandoah with 13 points.
