Rams’ Book, Mayberry place at Ed Winger tournament

Glenwood’s Dalton Book and Mitch Mayberry placed at the Ed Winger Invitational Wrestling Tournament at Urbandale High School Saturday.

Southeast Polk was the tournament champion with 223.5 points. Glenwood finished 19th in the team standings with 28 points.
Book, the Rams’ 152 pounder placed seventh while Mayberry was eighth at 182 pounds.

“It was a real tough tournament,” Weber said. “A lot of the top teams from around the state and ranked 3A schools. I thought we wrestled better and we’re improving each week. Dalton was seventh and Mitch was eighth and all the kids battled hard and everyone won at least one match.

“We’re getting prepared for the post-season now and we’re heading in the right direction.”

Book won his medal in injury time over Bettendorf’s Damian Petersen in the seventh place match.

Mayberry was pinned by North Scott’s Thade Gottschalk in the seventh place match.

The Rams return to action Saturday at the Hawkeye 10 Conference Meet in Red Oak.

Rams drop two at home

Competing for the first time in two weeks, the Glenwood wrestling squad dropped  a pair of matches in a Hawkeye 10 Conference home triangular Thursday.

Atlantic downed the Rams 45-28 and Clarinda slipped away with a 37-33 dual win.

Tate Mayberry (138-pounds), Zander Hayes (160) and Mitch Mayberry (182) each went 2-0 for Glenwood on the night.
