Ram volleyball 3-2 at Harlan invite

Glenwood won its final two matches and finished 3-2 at the Harlan Invite Saturday.

The Rams (5-4) won their opener 21-17, 21-16 over Logan-Magnolia before dropping their next two to East Sac County 2-422, 21-17 and Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln 21-18, 23-21. Glenwood bounced back to knock off Hawkeye 10 Conference foes Council Bluffs St. Albert (21-23, 21-18, 25-12) and the host Cyclones (21-13, 21-15) in its final two matches of the day.

Abraham Lincoln was the tournament champion, sweeping all five of its matches.

Elle Scarborough was the big hitter for the Rams, recording 44 kills in the fine matches, including 12 each against Logan-Magnolia and St. Albert.

Kelly Embray dished up 44 set assists.

Glenwood is back in action Sept. 10 when the head to Red Oak for a Hawkeye 10 Conference tilt.

Tri-Center tourney

The Glenwood volleyball team opened its season Thursday at the Tri-Center Invitational Tournament in Neola.

The Rams went 2-2 in the tournament, notching wins over MVAOCOU 21-3, 21-4 and Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson 21-14 and 21-16. Glenwood dropped decisions to Sidney 16-21, 21-14, 15-13 and the host Trojans 18-21, 14-21.

Elle Scarborough led the Rams with 28 kills in the four matches. Josyln Lewis added 22 kills.

Kelly Embray paced the offense with 37 set assists and Grace Boles added 30.

Jaeda Wilson dug up 18 balls from her libero position.
