Lodging Tax Vote Coming March 7

Residents of unincorporated areas of Mills County will determine the fate of a 7% lodging tax in Mills County in a special election on Tuesday, March 7. If passed, the tax on hotel and motel stays will go into effect on July 1.

Voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the following polling sites:

Lakin Community Center, Malvern – Indian Creek, Deer Creek, White Cloud, Anderson, Silver Creek, Center and Rawles Townships.

Mills County Annex, Glenwood – Glenwood, Plattville and Lyons Townships.

St. John Lutheran Church, Mineola – Oak, St. Mary’s and Ingraham Townships.

Early and absentee ballots may be cast in person at the Mills County Auditor’s Office in Glenwood until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 6. The auditor’s office will be open extended hours on Friday, March 3, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mailed-in absentee ballots must be received at the auditor’s office before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7. Ballots cannot be placed in the drop box outside the county courthouse.
