March Ground-breaking Planned For Love's Travel Stop

A ground-breaking ceremony for the Love’s travel stop being planned for the Interstate 29/Highway 34 interchange in western Mills County has been scheduled for Wednesday, March 22, at 10 a.m., according to Linda Washburn, executive director of the Glenwood Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Love’s complex will be built west of the interchange along the north side of Highway 34 near the 188th Street intersection.

The truck stop will feature a convenience store, gift shop, Subway restaurant, retail tire store and light mechanical repair shop, shower and laundry facilities for professional drivers, 12 auto gas pumps, six diesel pumps, 88 truck parking spots 62 car parking spots and three stalls for recreational vehicles.

Oklahoma-based Love’s announced plans to build the truck stop last spring. At the time of their announcement, Love’s officials said the Mills County site’s position near a major transportation hub (I-29/Highway 34) and existing infrastructure and road accessibility in the area made it an attractive location.

Love’s is a nationally-known truck and travel stop with more than 370 locations in 40 states. The company’s two closest locations along Interstate 29 are in Sioux City and St. Joseph, Mo., and both, according to Love’s spokesperson Alex Fuller, will closely resemble the Mills County stop.

Fuller said the Mills County travel stop is projected to open next fall.
