Knights nip Wolverines 3-2 in Corner

TABOR - Fremont-Mills built a 3-0 lead after two innings and held on for a 3-2 win over East Mills in a Corner Conference baseball clash in Tabor Friday.

The Knights (4-1) got a strong pitching performance from Jacob Jenkerson in the win. The sophomore gave up just two runs and four hits – none for extra-bases – and struck out five in 5 2/3 innings of work before giving way to closer Dylan Chambers for the final 1 1/3 innings.

The Wolverines plated two runs in the top of the fourth but could not get any closer over the final three innings.

Noah Hillyer, Dylan Schroeder, Nic Duysen and Anthony Rainey each had a single for East Mills.

Kameron Wederquist took the loss on the hill after giving up five hits and no earned runs in six innings of work.

East Mills 15,
Griswold 12

Anthony Rainey went 4-for-4 and drove in three runs for East Mills in a 15-12 non-conference baseball victory over Griswold last Wednesday.

The Wolverines (2-8) smacked a season-high 17 hits in the win. Six different East Mills batters recorded at least two hits with Rainey leading the way with four. Nic Duysen and Weston Copperstone each had three hits and Noah Hillyer, Dylan Schroeder and Chris Darnold had two hits apiece.

Jackson Wray was credited with the win on the hill for the Wolverines.

C-A-M 17,
Fremont-Mills 3

C-A-M plated 11 runs in the second and third innings and cruised to a 17-3, six inning victory over Fremont-Mills in non-conference baseball last Wednesday.

The 9-1 Cougars pounded 11 hits off a quartet of Knights pitchers in their eighth win in nine games this season.

Andrew Hontz, Nate Laughlin and Jacob Jenkerson each had a hit for Fremont-Mills.

Stanton 12,
East Mills 11, 8 innings

Stanton plated the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning to edge East Mills in Corner Conference baseball last Tuesday.

The Wolverines (1-8) smacked 10 hits and built a 11-8 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. But the Vikings didn’t go quietly, tying the game with a three run bottom half of the seventh and then winning in the bottom of the eighth.

Noah Hillyer and Dylan Schroeder each had three hits for East Mills. Hillyer doubled twice and drove in four runs. Trevor Glockel had two hits and drove in two runs.

Chris Jones, Donnie Weis and Brandon Peterson led Stanton with three hits each. Drake Johnson tossed two hitless innings to earn the win on the hill.

Kameron Wederquist, who came on in relief of starter Weston Copperstone, took the loss after allowing five hits, a single earned run and striking out six in three innings of work.
