Home for the Holidays festivities kick-off Dec. 3

Caroling and the traditional tree-lighting ceremony Thursday evening on Town Square will help kick off the Glenwood Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Home for the Holidays celebration. The following festivities are planned as part of the four-day event:

Thursday, Dec. 3
4:30 p.m. - Coffee and cocoa served at City Hall (5 Vine St.) by Glenwood Area Chamber of Commerce and Black Hills Energy.
5:15 p.m. - Caroling and tree-lighting ceremony on southeast corner of Town Square.
5-8 p.m. - “All I Want For Christmas” wish list event at jWren Boutique (16 N. Walnut St.) with complimentary spirits and appetizers.
5:30 p.m. - Santa arrives in fire truck.
5:30 - 6:30 p.m. - Visits with Santa at City Hall.

Friday, Dec. 4
4-9 p.m. - Scanlan Windows to the World Open House at Bella Terre Reception Hall and Vineyard (23373 Barrus Rd.).
7 p.m. - Ugly Sweater Party and Christmas Karaoke at Vine Street Cellars winery (17 N. Vine St.).

Saturday, Dec. 5
All day - Festival of Trees celebration in Malvern.
8:30 - 10:30 a.m. - Breakfast With Santa at Mills County YMCA (110 Sivers Rd.) sponsored by Glenwood Community High School Reach/SADD chapter, Mills County YMCA and Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department.
9 a.m. - noon - Home For The Holidays Vendor Market at American Legional (104 S. Vine St.).
10 a.m. - 6 p.m. - Scanlan Window to the World Open House at Bella Terre Reception Hall and Vineyard.
10 a.m. - 4 p.m. - Project Art Church Holiday Show (201 E. Fourth St., Malvern).
10 a.m. - 4 p.m. - Fine Arts on 5th Gallery (Malvern).
2 - 4 p.m. - Pet Pictures With Santa (Glenwood Vet Clinic, 58950 Iowa Rd.) with proceeds going to the Love Tree project.
5:30 - 7:30 p.m. - Winter Carnival Family Fun with crafts and games at Sky High Family Fun Center (109 S. Walnut St.), cosponsored by Sky High Family Fun Center and The Connection - A Christian Community.

Sunday, Dec. 6
Noon - 5 p.m. - Scanlan Window to the World Open House at Bella Terre Reception Hall and Vineyard.
2 p.m. - Offutt Air Force Base Heartland of America Band presents “Sounds of the Season” holiday concert at the Glenwood Community High School performing arts auditorium (504 E. Sharp St.). The concert is cosponsored by The Opinion-Tribune newspaper and Glenwood Community School District. Free tickets are available at Farm Bureau Financial Services (302 S. Locust St.), Glenwood State Bank (32 N. Walnut St.) and First National Bank (102 S. Locust St.). Doors will open at 1:15 and all concert goers are asked to be seated by 1:45 p.m.
5 - 7 p.m. - Soup and Song fundraiser for local charitable programs at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church - Kaufman Hall (24116 Marian Ave.).
