Ground Broken On New BP Station / Store

PACIFIC JUNCTION - The transformation of the U.S. Highway 34 / Interstate 29 business corridor in western Mills County continues.

Chamber of commerce, economic development and elected leaders joined Lincoln Farm & Home owners Mark and Nancy Lincoln and their son Nate last Wednesday for a ground-breaking ceremony at the site of the company’s new BP fuel station and convenience store now under construction near the intersection of 188th and Hyland.

The new facility will be built south of the existing BP station northwest of the Highway 34 / Interstate 29 interchange. The existing station and store will remain open during the construction process, Mark Lincoln said.

The 5,500 square-foot building will face the south with 16 fueling stations available to customers along with four high-flow diesel pumps.

Lincoln said a variety of food will be available in the convenience store, including Chester’s Chicken, Picadilly Circus Pizza and sandwiches.

Lincoln noted the east end of the property will not be developed as part of the BP Station and will be available for a new business, such as a motel or restaurant, that might want to locate on the site in the future.

The Lincoln family began their fuel delivery tank wagon service in January 1977 and purchased their first Amoco store in Glenwood in 1983. They later purchased a store in Red Oak and eventually the I-29 / Highway 34 location.

Their new facility is expected to open late this fall or early winter, Lincoln said.
