Glenwood Teen To Cheer In London Parade

A Glenwood cheerleader will ring in 2020 by cheering and marching in London’s New Year’s Day Parade.

Grace Tattersall will among a team of cheerleaders from across the country representing the National Cheerleader Association in the parade. She was selected for the team during a camp last summer at Iowa State University in Ames.

“If they see something special in you, they hand you a ribbon and you are nominated to audition for the team,” she said. “You audition in front of everyone.”

The audition included doing jumps, cheers and tumbling.

“I was nervous about performing in front of everyone at camp,” she said.

The cheerleading team will perform a two and one-half minute routine together throughout the parade. They’ll also spend time sightseeing in London, seeing places like Buckingham Palace, the House of Parliament and Big Ben.

“I’m excited to be going and seeing all those places,” the Glenwood Community High School sophomore said.

Grace has been a GCHS football cheerleader for two years and cheered at basketball games as a freshman. In addition to cheering, she’s competed in gymnastics at a gym in Papillion and has taken classes with Gary’s Tumbling in Glenwood.
