Glenwood off to high-scoring 3-0 softball start

The Glenwood softball team smacked 27 hits and scored 35 runs in a Hawkeye 10 Conference double header sweep of Council Bluffs St. Albert Thursday in Council Bluffs.

The Rams got up 14-0 on the Saintes in the opener and went on to win 19-5. In game two, Glenwood plated 13 runs in the third inning to end the contest by mercy rule with the score 16-0.

Sydney Biermann was credited with the win in the circle in the opening game, allowing four hits. Biermann also hit a two-run home run and went 3-for-4 at the plate. Biermann would add a grand slam in the game two win.

Bailey Rumery recorded the game two win, allowing two over the minimum in the three inning victory.

Creston 1

Glenwood plated 11 runs in the top of the seventh inning and routed Creston 19-1 in Hawkeye 10 Conference softball last Tuesday.

The Rams smacked 18 hits in the win with Sara Ingoldsby going 5-for-6 at the plate with a double, triple and three runs driven in.

Brielle Smith and Cameron Rounds added three hits and Haley Palmer and Brooklyn Taylor added two hits each.

Sydney Biermann went the distance in the circle for the win, scattering four hits and fanning 11.
