Glenwood girls third, boys fifth at Lewis Central invite

Rachel Mullennax placed third overall and the Glenwood girls were the runner up at the Council Bluffs Lewis Central Co-ed Invitational Saturday on the campus of Iowa Western Community College.

Harlan edged the Rams 33 to 52 in the team scoring for the title. Mullennax ran a team-best 21:08.77 for third. Tri-Center’s Peyton Pogue won the girls race with a time of 19:50.65, nearly a minute better than runner up Lucy Borkowski of Harlan.

Mullennax was one of four Rams to place among the top 15 finishers, with Emmah Hughes finishing seventh, Erin Schultz eighth and Riley Nebel 15th.

The Glenwood boys were led by Sam McIntyre’s seventh place time of 17:56.11. The Rams finished with 144 points for fifth place.

Thomas Jefferson’s Wimach Gilo and Aidan Booton swept the top two places and led the Yellowjackets to the team title. Gilo ran a 16:58 for top honors with his teammate coming in 12 second laters for second.

Glenwood also picked up 12th finish by Nathan Rohrberg and a 23rd place showing by Tyler Huey.
