Glenwood Aquatic Center opens for first full season of swimming

The summer-like temperatures moved in last week just in time for the start of the first full season of swimming at the Glenwood Aquatic Center.

The facility will be open daily from 1-8 p.m. until the start of the 2017-18 school year in late August.
Daily admission rates are $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens, $3 for students age 22 or younger. There is no charge for children age 4 and younger.

Season passes are $80 for a single person or $170 for a family (up to six immediate family members). There is an additional charge of $10 per person for each immediate family member over six.

The aquatic center is available for after-hours semi-private and private party rentals.

The rate for a semi-private rental (facility remains open to the public) is $115 for 1-15 people and $150 for 16-25 people.

Private party rental rates are $200 for 1-25 people, $250 for 26-50 people and $300 for 50-plus people. Private party rental is from 8-9:30 p.m. A late fee of $100 will be charged if the party goes past 9:30.

The $5 million aquatic center, owned by the city and managed by the Mills County YMCA, opened last July - giving the Glenwood community its first outdoor swimming facility in a dozen years.

An average of 250-300 people came to the aquatic center on a daily basis last summer. Popular features include a splash bucket, lily pad walk, diving boards, volleyball net and basketball hoop.
