Everything is sweet at Glenwood’s Sugar Makery
Have a craving for something sweet?
There’s a good chance you’ll find something to your liking at Glenwood’s newest business – Sugar Makery.
As its name suggests, Sugar Makery is all things sweet.
“Every thing we make is made with sugar,” co-owner Malcom McCue said.
Located at 204 Sharp St., in a building that previously housed ice cream shops and restaurants, Sugar Makery is a popcorn shop, candy store and more.
With over 50 varieties to choose from, popcorn is Sugar Makery’s signature item with flavors ranging from traditional cheese and carmel, to grape and dill pickle.
Looking for an assortment of flavors? Consider the cornfetti mixture or coming up with your own customized mix. The popcorn comes in a variety of sizes and can also be packed in a gift canister.
On the candy side, the options are plentiful, too - salt water taffy, gourmet jelly beans, chocolates, cotton candy, movie theater candy, old-fashioned hard candy sticks and the nostalgic favorites you remember from your childhood.
“We want to bring memories back from when we were kids and create new memories for your children,” co-owner Alexis Jensen said.
If you’re looking for something to was down the popcorn and candy, Sugar Makery has more than 100 flavors of bottled soda pop, including some old-time favorites like Bubble Up , Nesbitt’s Orange and Dad’s Root Beer.
In the mood for ice cream? Accent your soft serve ice cream with an assortment of flavors, like cherry or lime, that are mixed in to accent the cone.
Donut lovers will want to check out the Sugar Makery on Sundays, the one day of the week when McCue comes up with some unique and colorful flavors.
Any of the products available at Sugar Makery can be packaged as part of a special occasion gift basket.
“We’re going to be here when you need a snack,” Jensen said.
Sugar Makery is open seven days a week, but McCue and Jensen expect to adjust the hours after determining customer demand.
